Founded by Pedro Macuapa in 2007, Berraco del Madidi is an entrepreneurial initiative born out of the San Jose de Uchupiamonas community. The company began as a rustic Amazon rainforest camping tour and has since developed into a full-service operation with open-air cabanas, trails, and new adventure equipment.
Pedro’s vision is to use ecotourism as a means to protect the fragile rainforest environment, employ community members, and preserve indigenous culture for future generations. For our guests, we promise to deliver the purest Amazonian adventures and to bring out your inner berraco.

Safety & Professionalism
Berraco del Madidi tours are led by experienced local guides who emphasize the safety of our guests. Safety, punctuality and environmental responsibility are our top priorities. We are happy to work with you to plan a trip that meets your level of ability. Our company has extensive experience in hosting families with children as well as elderly guests. We provide top-of-the-line safety equipment to ensure the protection and health of our youngest and oldest guests alike.
Each tour group is assigned a private guide, cook and boat driver, in addition to the permanent support staff residing at the EcoCamp. All of our guides have received first aid, rescue and survival training. We carry a medical kit with us at all times. Guests are required to wear life jackets on the boat and all of our facilities are equipped with fire extinguishers.
Berraco del Madidi has a spotless track record regarding the health and safety of our guests; we have never had a serious incident occur during one of our tours. However, we have emergency protocols in place in the event of an evacuation. In addition, Berraco del Madidi is planning to offer optional trip insurance in the near future.
